Alpern Rosenthal Awarded Prestigious HR Award

PITTSBURGH, Pa., September 16, 2009 – Alpern Rosenthal was awarded the 2009 People Do Matter Award from the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (PHRA) for their recently implemented Leadership Communication/Feedback Program and Training program.  Created to encourage effective practices in human resources, the People Do Matter initiative recognizes employers whose human resource practices best demonstrate the importance of providing workers a positive return on their contributions to ensure productivity, efficiency, and business results.

Alpern Rosenthal’s Human Resources department created their program to help build bridges to better communication processes throughout the entire firm.  Using Predictive Index, a tool that seeks to quantify one’s personality to provide an objective, factual and analytic assessment of personality traits and motivation factors, they built a multi-faceted workshop to introduce the program, educate employees on using this tool to evaluate their own personality maps, as well as those of others, and to leverage this data to improve communications. 

A special emphasis throughout the program was on the feedback process, the necessity of including both constructive and positive feedback, and its critical importance to the development of individuals both as employees and as people.  Work continues on the program to make the program an on-going part of the culture at Alpern Rosenthal going forward to continually help build better communication processes.
