Merger Announcement with Cass, Levy & Leone

Alpern Rosenthal and Cass, Levy & Leone of West Palm Beach and Stuart, FL, have announced a merger of the two firms effective September 17, 2007. Cass, Levy & Leone will be known as Cass, Levy & Leone, an Alpern Rosenthal Company. The merged firms will now have more than 250 employees. The merger is a natural fit as Cass, Levy & Leone offers many similar niches to Alpern Rosenthal such as business valuation/litigation support, construction, medical, real estate and financial services. Cass, Levy & Leone also brings new niche expertise to Alpern Rosenthal such as the hospitality industry and family office services, to name a few.

In 2006, the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) issued eight standards requiring auditors to change how they assess risk and internal controls, and as a result, possibly change the nature, extent and timing of audit procedures.

These standards were a follow up to Sarbanes-Oxley. The main objective of the new auditing standards is to strengthen and maintain the integrity of the independent financial statement audit. The new standards will benefit all stakeholders in the financial reporting process.The new rules are effective for 2007 year end audits.
